It should come as no surprise that we live in a technology oriented world. Everyday laptops, cell phones, digital cameras and digital video cameras are owned by millions. In today’s technology age there is an increasing responsibility on the consumer to purchase what are listed as essential accessories for operating in the computer age. One of these necessities is portable file storage.

The business of portable file storage is growing rapidly and asking you, the consumer, to keep up. This can be a daunting task, even to just become familiar with the different types of devices used. So in order to make things simple we will break down the different types of file storage to find out what is right for you.

First there is the jump drive. The jump drive is a USB port that can contain any file found on a computer. The attraction to this is that it is rather small and often fits well on a key ring. It’s capacity is usually no more than 2 to 4 gigabytes. While this can be used for a myriad of file storage it is most often used for text or document file storage.

There is also the digital memory card. This is an accessory used by digital cameras. The file capacity on this is much greater as it can go well over 8 gigabytes. Of course, with all portable file storage the higher in size the higher in cost. Digital memory cards are of course used for digital photos and the occasional video. While most digital cameras come with a memory card nowadays, most included memory cards come with a smaller file size.

Then there is the portable hard drive. This is the largest of the portable file storages. It is not for ease of use. This is strictly for very large file sizes, such as transporting entire movies as well as the contents of a computer. With that being said you can say that it is often used as a back up for a hard drive. Portable storage is a big market these days.

Why not to Buy a Netbook

The search for a new computer can be one of the toughest searches to go through. There is so much information and not nearly enough time to look through it all. Words confuse you and all you know is you need a computer that can do the things you need it to do but you don’t want to pay through the roof for it. Occasionally a word like “netbook” comes around and dazzles you. It’s the compact, affordable laptop that you can carry anywhere and is fully functional like a big computer. So what’s there not to like about this computer you ask? A lot when you stop to look at it closely.

The size is what gets promoted about this computer all the time. There is no doubt companies use it as the selling point. However the size can be it’s one biggest flaw. If you are going to use this computer occasionally and for recreational purposes only then it could be a fine computer but if you plan on utilizing it fully then you need something bigger. Work for your business is not meant to be done on a netbook where you have to strain your eyes all day just to do your work.

If you plan on using your netbook for creative endeavors such as photo shopping your pictures or editing together home movies, think again. Most of the netbooks on the market are not equipped to handle such a big job. They usually don’t come with a great speaker system either. They are small and cumbersome. This can create more than enough problems when you are trying to get some creative work done.

Now, the biggest selling point past the size has been the price. Everyone wants the netbook because of the price but make sure you understand that you are getting exactly what you paid for. You are paying for a smaller sized version of a real live computer and you are getting just that. Buying a laptop can be a tough decision but avoiding a netbook is the easiest decision you will make.

Why to Buy a Netbook

If you are looking to get a computer you might have made the decision to get something a little more portable than the big stationary desk top you have been using for years. Well, if you have begun your search then you have learned that there are some new notebooks out there called “netbooks.” These are compact versions of laptops that have been offered everywhere from when you guy a high definition television or when you purchase internet service through your local provider. These notebooks are small and can go anywhere you go but the question is: Is this the right computer for you?

The first thing that is attractive about a netbook is the size. This computer can fit in most women’s purses and can fit comfortable in any backpack or messenger bag. The advantage to the netbook is that they never get in the way and you can carry them without the cumbersome feeling of a laptop, but that doesn’t mean it’s enough for you.

The problem with a small netbook is the size of the screen is compromised. This might not be a problem depending on what you plan on using it for. If you are interested in using it for the purposes of a full time computer then it might be best to look into something bigger like a laptop.

However, if the purpose of using the netbook is strictly recreational, meaning for the occasional coffee shop web surfing excursion or perhaps for the checking some monthly banking statements then there is no need to look further than a net book. It’s the absolute best place for you to go.

If you are on a budget as well then the net book is the best way to go. Net books will cost you far less than any other computer system will. Because of it’s petite size and smaller screen they charge you less than half of what they would charge for a laptop or a desktop. Finding a computer is not always easy but the netbook could be an easy choice.
