This is a very common program that many use for online storage. Basically, it works by having a folder on your device that connects to where your data is stored on the cloud. What’s great about this program is it can be used across all your web-enabled devices. Whatever device has DropBox, whether a laptop, LG Android phone, or a tablet PC, you’ll see the same files from all your devices. If you make a change to one of the files, that change will show up on all devices as well.

Amazon

Amazon offers a cloud service that allows you to store information online. In order to access the information, you must have a Flash-enabled device (sorry iPad and iPhone users). You get up to 5 GB for free, but it costs $1 per gigabyte after that.

iCloud

Apple also provides a cloud service called iCloud. This obviously is made to work for iPad and iPhone users, but PC users and others can benefit. Apple customers automatically get 5 GB to start out with.

Bouncing down to the laptop with the sound puts everything in one place but with the constant use of the laptop for further audio recording you need to have a secondary place where all this information is being kept.

Let’s say shooting is done for the day and you decide to do editing on the laptop or transfer it over to a main editing computer, but during the process your laptop crashes and you lose those files. This can kill your production but if you have it backed up on a portable hard drive you could avert this disaster anytime there problem arises.
